The tourism industry in Timor-Leste is still developing and like many countries around the world we are facing a new challenge in the COVID-19 crisis. This newsletter aims to connect tourism businesses, communities, associations, development partners and the government as we work together to establish a strong and sustainable industry in Timor-Leste.

This month, we are celebrating World Ocean Day and we are featuring four news stories focusing on marine tourism. This day is particularly important for Timor-Leste: we have the most bio-diverse waters in the world.  We offer world-class scuba diving on pristine coral reefs and visitors have a chance to see whales, dolphins and dugong close to shore. Everyone needs to make a contribution to protecting the marine environment for the future.

Our website is both a gateway to visitor information and a forum for sharing knowledge about our tourism industry. We would like to encourage you to share the link with colleagues and prospective visitors and to contribute content about your achievements and new developments. Please email us at [email protected] to submit your news, press releases, films and photos for consideration.

We are excited by the prospect of welcoming visitors again when the time is right. In the meantime, we have the opportunity to prepare and to reflect on how we can offer the best possible experience to tourists, within the community-based, eco-tourism model. We are all looking forward to sharing our hospitality and Timor-Leste’s natural beauty and culture with visitors once again!
