The United States Agency for International Development’s (USAID) Tourism For All program aims to develop and enhance Timor-Leste’s tourism industry in an inclusive and sustainable manner by More… facilitating private sector investment and co-creation, promoting steady and sustainable tourism growth, safeguarding the environment and social characteristics of local communities, and creating inclusive tourism through industry governance and sustainable investment to increase employment in the tourism workforce. The Government of Timor-Leste’s National Tourism Policy, approved in March 2017, envisions a vibrant tourism sector that contributes significantly to the economy, society, and environment by implementing a five-pronged approach to sector development and identifying five different tourism niches, including eco and marine, historical, cultural, adventure and sports, religious and pilgrimage, and conference and convention.
