Flights Resume from Dili to the Oe-Cusse Enclave

Reaching Oé-Cusse from Dili, the capital of Timor-Leste, is possible in three ways: by land, sea and/or air. By plane is the easiest option with flights on Monday to Thursday and Saturday in the morning except Friday in the morning (while Sunday is no flight). It is a 35-minute flight where you can enjoy spectacular views of the island and Suva Sea and if lucky, see pilot whales in their migratory season. The cost of the flight is $40 USD for adult; $30 USD for children from 2 to 12 yo, and $50 USD for corporate/Adult. Alternatively, two ferries, the Success and Nakroma, come from Dili and arrive in Kitahara Mahata port in Oé-Cusse four days a week. Shipping is the main route through which the goods arrive in the region, and although it is a long journey (12 hours), the price of transport is affordable ($10 for Success and $8 for Nakroman without cabin, $40 with cabin). Finally, the road trip across Indonesian territory can be an excellent opportunity to explore both sides of Timorese island, but be careful with the timing of your travel as there is a one-hour time difference between the countries and the Indonesian border closes at 16;00 hours and Timor-Leste border at 17:00 hours. It is recommended to arrive at least one hour beforehand to make sure you have time to complete all the necessary paperwork. There is no requirement to complete immigration paperwork when traveling by plane or boat. However, currently the land border is closed due to Covid-19 pandemic.
