Boneca de Atauro

Supporting women and the local community through traditional crafts.

The Boneca de Atauro co-operative is a community-based enterprise that produces a range of hand-embroidered and sewn products, including dolls, bags, and educational toys. The co-operative was established in 2006 as a way to provide employment and an income for women on the island of Atauro, located off the coast of East Timor. All of the products are made using traditional techniques and materials, and the co-operative works with a number of local artisans to create unique items that are sold in the shop on Atauro and in the shop in Dili. The co-operative is committed to providing fair wages and working conditions for all of its employees, and to supporting the local community on Atauro.
